Mikayla Hyland-Wood

Policy and Research Officer

Mikayla has a background in Earth and environmental sciences with experience in international food security and water management. Before joining Watertrust Australia, Mikayla worked across domestic and international domains designing effective and sustainable research projects to support healthy river systems and rural communities.

Shaped by not-for-profit experience at the Australian River Restoration Centre (ARRC) and government experience at the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Mikayla has a passion for redefining what holistic, community-led water management looks like in complex environments.

Mikayla holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in environmental science from the Australian National University and is co-chair of the Food and Agriculture Organisation’s Youth Policy Board representing the Asia Pacific region.
