Policy Analyst

Leila was drawn to water management because of the immense value of water and the complexity of its management. Her undergraduate studies brought together the science of water and an understanding of policy making through a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Australian National University.

It culminated in an honours research project on decision-making for the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. Along the way, Leila had practical experience working on policy at the Australian Fisheries Management Authority.

In 2021, she commenced a PhD research project on adaptive approaches to water security for regional towns in Australia facing climate change and other pressures. In this time, she has also been involved as a researcher on government and academic projects, and has been exposed to diverse perspectives on water management.
